Carbon Tax View

Some political humor for your Easter weekend.

I just read an article on slavery in the modern world and it got me to thinking again, how good we have it in this country.

Even with all of its problems, ie. dissatisfaction with our current government. At least we have the option of voting them out or not.

We also have the option to work for our paycheck and pay taxes on the money we earn. Again or not. We also have the option to complain about both situations, which ever one we choose to be in, without the expectation of persecution and or jail time or worse.

This does not however, smooth over the feeling that taxes in this country are getting increasingly out of control. And, even if we do change the current political party to a different one, any cut in these taxes once we start paying them is completely a pipe dream.

We only have to look at history to prove that fact. I will just mention, in my opinion, once a tax is introduced in this country, it is never taken away, even if the other party gets elected on the promise to do so. Unless of course you elect the party back in that started the tax in the first place?

Take the GST as an example. Brought in by the conservative party in 1991 and then, the liberals promised to replace it, if elected in 93. However, once elected, did nothing to change it.

It took an election back to the conservative party in 2006 for any change to take place. That change was a 2% reduction by the party that introduced it in the first place?? Go figure.

So now we have the hated so called carbon tax. Carbon???? (here is the definition of how Carbon dioxide or C02 is produced from the Canadian government's website.

"carbon dioxide, (CO2) Indoors, CO2 is mainly produced through the respiration (breathing) of occupants."

So, are we being taxed on the very air we breathe, not in, but out????

In order to reduce green house gases, we either must stop breathing out (only indoors mind you) or pay pay pay until??? What exactly does the government think is going to happen by paying these ridiculous taxes???

But hey, don't worry, we can breathe out fine as long as we are outside. Which, today, where I live would mean freezing in -20 c. And then of course we will be forced to go inside, crank up the heat and pay pay pay a higher than ever Carbon Tax on the power we use to heat our home.
